I was born and raised in Felton, about 20 minutes from downtown Santa Cruz. I’ve lived in here my entire life. I first became politically aware during Bernie Sanders’ 2016 presidential campaign, for which I volunteered and canvassed. At the time I was in 6th grade, and that started my journey of political and social activism. In the Fall of 2021, I started at UC Santa Cruz as a Kresge College affiliate majoring in music. I also moved from Felton to within the Santa Cruz city limits, where I now live with my girlfriend, Lily, and dog, Oliver.
Besides my political activism and schoolwork, I teach music lessons in the San Lorenzo Valley. I find that spreading my love for music is just as fulfilling as my political work. In the rare free time I have, I enjoy playing basketball and ultimate frisbee on Saturday mornings at the beach; I also enjoy being riding my bike, hiking or walking my dog Oliver, and playing music.
My lifetime of experience in Santa Cruz is what makes me feel equipped to address the needs of this community. I’ve seen how our town has changed, and how that has affected peoples’ lives for better and for worse. I want to represent the needs of Santa Cruz, but I need your help!
Soon after starting at UCSC, I became involved in re-starting our campus's Young Democratic Socialists of America (YDSA) chapter, for which I am a co-chair. Since then I’ve served as an executive committee member for the Santa Cruz DSA, the campaign manager for Joe Thompson’s State Assembly campaign, the on-campus coordinator for the Empty Home Tax, and a member-at-large for the Student Housing Coalition.
